Pertaining to sushi ingredients, sushi is often associated with raw fish or sashimi. This is not always the case. You may enjoy sushi with cooked ingredients as well. Currently, there is 2 class of sushi in the world. Edomae or traditional and Fusion, modern, or freestyle. The sushi ingredients classified here are for information only. I don't know why this is important as long as the sushi you make tastes great. But, maybe someone somewhere will want the "real deal". So for you die hard sushi fans here is how it breaks down. The constant with all sushi or the must have sushi ingredients are: sushi rice, seaweed (nori), soy sauce (shoyu), and wasabi. In restaurants wasabi is called "sabi", soy sauce or shoyu is "murasaki", and sushi rice is "shari".

Fushion sushi also are decorated with chic names like dragon roll, California roll, candy or rainbow roll. I guess you make it up you name it what you want. Funky Charlie Roll, Freddie Freak maki.
